Public Swimming Pools

Public and commercial swimming pools and spas are a source of leisure, recreation, exercise, and therapy for many residents throughout our County.  Each facility is licensed and inspected by the Environmental Public Health Division to assure:

  • the disinfection level of the water is adequate
  • there are no safety hazards (unprotected suction lines, electrical hazards, inadequate underwater lighting, improper chemical storage, or any other unsafe condition)
  • water is free of algae and the bottom of the pool is easily visible from the deck
  • the restroom facilities are sanitary and adequately stocked
  • lifeguards are up-to-date on their required certifications
  • water filtration, disinfection, and recirculation equipment is operating properly

The Environmental Public Health Division does not inspect backyard (residential/private) pools.
